Fr. Corapi incident comes from disgruntled Santa Cruz Media employee

From the company that produces Fr. Corapi’s CDs and books:

Statement of Santa Cruz Media, Inc. Relative to Fr. Corapi’s Suspension

Santa Cruz Media, Inc. is the owner of all of Fr. John Corapi’s intellectual property and the DVDs, CDs, and books that flow from it. We are a secular corporation and not affiliated with the Catholic Church in any way. As such, we are not under the jurisdiction of any bishop or other official in the Catholic Church, although we have the utmost respect for Church authority.

We fully support Rev. John Corapi in this terrible trial, not surprisingly having begun on Ash Wednesday. Through the sacrifice and struggle of the desert and all of the dark moments that this entails, we are confident that the glory of the risen Lord will shine forth from the power of the Resurrection and Easter.

We have consulted with a number of canon lawyers. They have assured us that the actions of the Bishop of Corpus Christi, Texas are, on several points of canon law, illicit. It is our fervent hope that The Dallas Charter will be changed because of false accusations like this. There is no evidence at this time that Fr. Corapi did anything wrong, only the unsubstantiated rant of a former employee, who, after losing her job with this office, physically assaulted me and another employee and promised to “destroy” Father Corapi. We all continue to pray for this person, and we ask you to do the same.

We sincerely believe that the work Fr. Corapi has done is of greatest value to the Church, hence hated by the devil. We fully intend to make Fr. Corapi’s material available as a service to the Church and the world for as long as we possibly can.

The Church provides no financial support to Fr. Corapi. He has to pay for his own legal representation, medical costs, food, housing, etc. We have never accepted donations or charitable contributions of any kind. We are supporting Father’s efforts to defend himself. Your purchase of products from Santa Cruz Media helps provide the funding for Father’s continued work as well as the legal expenses he continues to incur as a result of these malicious allegations.

Father Corapi and all of us here at Santa Cruz Media, Inc. greatly appreciate your kindness, support, and prayers. Please continue to pray for Father Corapi and his accuser, as well as all priests who find themselves in this unfortunate situation.

 Sincerely yours in Christ,

  Bobbi Ruffatto
Vice President of Operations

  1. I will pray for Father Corapi, and I know he is inoccent. It is appaling that he was suspended without any evidence. I know that this trial will make him stronger.

  2. I understand the hair trigger in light of the criticism of the Church in general in relation to the sex-abuse scandal. But until the truth come to light, especially since there was nothing criminal, I believe they should protect the dignity of the man. He’ll always have this hanging over his head the way Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens has murder over his. Thanks for visiting, and come back more often!

  3. Hi David – good day to you! I couldn’t write as well as you stated this situation – above. Upon learning of this news in the wee hrs. of the morning & after much thought – the phrase that came to mind — was ‘knee jerk’ reaction — ‘hair trigger’ is even better. All that you wrote — I agree and glad to find your site.

After reading the ltr. from Santa Cruz Media – my head is shaking! Makes it more upsetting to learn there was immediate evidence re: the state of mind of this person — and the ‘time’ that has past since the powers that be rec’d the 3 pg. letter — I believe one day is too much. The damage that is done I don’t believe can be undone ‘to Father’ and sadly what the powers that be don’t seem to understand — damaging to the Church, as well. Lastly, the only way it could be ‘truly’ undone is for the accuser to speak the truth and ask for forgiveness.

first place I’ve posted — I’ll post again — just wanted to leave something for you — appreciate your site.

Ps. yu may be aware ? someone on Fr’s. facebook page posted the link for Santa Cruz Media’s Email/letter — that goes to Fr. Corapi’s Site —- so it seems anyway.
After reading the letter — I clicked on the Home Page & found I was back to Fr. Corapi’s letter – it’s confusing/ meaning if one goes to Fr’s. site – not sure how yu find Santa Cruz Media’s letter – the only way I did was via the link. Seems it would be appropriate to be on the Home page as well.

Anway – next I googled Santa Cruz Media — that’s how I ended up here..your posting the ltr. put yur site on that google search page.

Here’s a thought if you had an intererest – helpful if you posted your page/link on Fr’s facebook page. As folks keep posting – the post with the link that I saw —will move down.

I keep checking facebook & Fr’s. Site — for any news…glad Media Cruz put out their letter. Thank you, Jesus.

    sorry so long
    God Bless ‘you’

  4. Fr. Corapi has come to far for God to drop him now. He has touched me and many others with his media – mixing my old Catholic school knowledge with todays fast changing life.

God bless him and keep him in our lives.

Fr Corapi is a multi-millionaire. Should the “Church” be paying for him? Don’t all those members of the Church who attend his events support Fr Corapi by paying for costly tickets. Let’s be honest here.

  6. What makes you think that Fr. Corapi is a multi-millionaire? Granted that he, reportedly, has won a multi-million dollar lawsuit, but the money is not ‘his’. Not only does he have to pay legal fees from the 2.7 million he got, but whatever proceeds belong to his religous order.

The point is that the Church is not paying for him, not whether or not it should.

Typical diocesan priests get all their benefits covered, yet most people don’t ever wonder how other priests subsist. Certainly Fr. Corapi has a roof over his head, and his medical bills covered, but it’s only by his work and intellectual property sales that he earns. It’s funny how people will pay for costly tickets to concerts and sporting events at well over $100 a piece, and call $50 tickets to a Fr. Corapi all day retreat expensive. Especially when you know that the plane ticket wasn’t free for him and his body guards, the venue wasn’t free for the organization who booked him to come, and the people who work the event are volunteers.

  7. It cannot be ignored that this action was planned to hit the press on Ash Wednesday. Clearly it was intended to have the maximum impact on the catholic community with the deliberate intention of taking the focus off of the most Holy and reverent season in the catholic church. While the news did have a wow effect on the people..can you imagine the dark influence that would inspire this person to pinpoint this Lenten time.

Let us pray for her enlightenment that she will be moved by the Holy Spirit to see the light.

With respect to the financial affairs of Father Corapi both financially, professionally and personally…who cares. This is not about that. He has a right to conduct a business..especially when the business helps him reach and save millions of souls. Mine being one of them.

Thank you Father Corapi. I look forward to your fierce return.

    God Bless

What say you???
